Editing a DLP Data Dictionary allows administrators to update existing sensitive data definitions without creating a new dictionary. This helps maintain accurate detection logic while ensuring all associated DLP policies continue to enforce updated data protection rules.
You may need to edit a data dictionary to:
Refine detection patterns or exact match values
Adjust confidence levels to reduce false positives
Update dictionary entries based on new compliance or business requirements
Improve accuracy of data detection across DLP policies
Edit a DLP data dictionary when:
Sensitive data formats or patterns change
Detection results require tuning for accuracy
Existing dictionaries need optimization without changing policy structure
Compliance requirements evolve but policies remain the same
1. In the Admin Dashboard, Navigate to Data Protection and open Data Dictionary. Locate the data dictionary you want to update and click on Edit icon.
2. Modify the required fields such as dictionary entries, detection logic, or confidence levels and Click Save to apply the changes.
3. You'll see a confirmation dialog will appear indicating the data dictionary has been updated successfully.
Updated data dictionaries are automatically reflected across all DLP policies where they are applied.
→ Refer to Add DLP Data Dictionary to create new dictionaries.
→ Refer to Delete DLP Data Dictionary to remove dictionaries that are no longer required.
→ Refer to Create a DLP Policy to add a new Data Leak Prevention (DLP) policy with edited data dictionary.
Editing a DLP Data Dictionary ensures sensitive data detection remains accurate and aligned with evolving security and compliance needs, while maintaining centralized control across all DLP policies.
